Entry 2 - Weekly Reflection and Sunrise Run

Now that the week is nearing an end, I have had time to sit back and reflect on all that I have learned. Our readings this week in class caught my attention, and really made me think. Learning about how Native Americans were viewed by others as well as seeing their own first person point of view made me reflect on the fact that there are two sides to every story. History is often taught from one perspective, and I appreciated being able to view opposing perspectives on the same situations this week in class. This experience opened my mind, and reminded me to think critically about everything I read while not simply taking things at face value.

The class presentation this week was insightful, and was integral to me coming to the positive realizations that I did regarding the material. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoyed the unconventional way that we spent a brief period of class outdoors. It was nice to take a break and feel the Earth on my feet before returning back to the classroom.

I captured my photo of the week this morning. I woke up before the sun rose and went on a run around campus before heading to the rec center. There was almost no one outside yet, and all I could hear was my feet hitting the pavement and the wind blowing through the trees. I made a pitstop at the football stadium where I captured my picture. At face value, it may not seem like anything spectacular, but while there I spent a brief moment reflecting on all the memories I have made at TCU over the last four years, so taking this photo felt very nostalgic for me. I then continued on my run as the sun continued to rise.

  1. Thanks, Anish. Your post is engaging and insightful. Yes, there's always two sides, yet the human condition most often insists on one over the other. I loved your photo. You should never say anything like "nothing spectacular," when describing your thoughts, observations, and work. It's the context and perspective that makes something spectacular. I like the contrast of dark and light in your photo.
